The numbers have rolled in and not only are they good enough in theirself to silence the naysayers (375k)…but she’s broken records once again! The first record she broke this year was being the first female solo rapper to hit number one with no feature since 2003 (that was Missy Elliott.) Then she had 7 simultaneous songs in the Top 10. Now she becomes the best selling female rapper’s debut week in HISTORY! There was only person who has sold more, Lauryn Hill with 422,000 on the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, BUT she was not put in the hip-hop category, thus making Nicki the first! Missy comes in shortly behind with 260,000 on Under Construction. Says Nicki of this feat, “I am in the company of 2 amazing groundbreaking women & for that, I am beyond grateful. Okay, numbers don’t lie. Ahem….her album was 3.99. Lil Kim, Missy nor Lauryn Hill sold their album for that price. She practically gave it away. How much money did she make per album???? Hmmmm

On a side note, unfortunately for most of the tools posting here, there is a lot more to hip hop than record sales. The spirit of hip hop never rested in record sales. I would even go out on a limb here & say that more than 50% of the people who buy albums are detached from the essence of hip hop. Some of the best lyricists go unnoticed due to not having a powerful label behind them or the loot to “purchase” radio air play.
Think about the best battles in hip hop history. They were never about record sales. Record sales is just one variable in and of itself. Although correlated at times, no conclusion can be made in regards to record sales and lyrical skills. Fact of that matter is, Kim released an entire song at Nicki. Plenty of lines that would have had a crowd roaring if they were actually on the same stage battling. I am not a Kim fan by any means. But her diss track definitely warrants a response from the pink barbie.
I just hopes she not going to be another broke famous rapper. Aint nothing funny when your fame it’s more than your change….hahahaha. #moneymatters

Her fans are so delusional, she can brag all she wants, the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill has sold over 22 million copies worldwide alone no deluxe editions just one album, that is a massive achievement. One thing for sure Nikki wont reach those number NEVER EVER, her sales are going to drop because her music is garbage (98 percent image and 2 percent talent). First week sales do not determine success of an album. She tries too hard to be in the same lane as Lauryn Hill.
