Floyd Mayweather Bet $40,000 on the Miami Heat & wins big

Often in the news nowadays for legal troubles and unsavoury incidents, Floyd Mayweather had some more positive news to report yesterday when he declared a big win on Christmas Day basketball.

Speaking on his Twitter page Floyd announced that he had picked Miami Heat to overcome the LA Lakers in their Christmas Day fixture, backing key player LeBron James to win the battle against five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant.

‘LeBron James and Kobe Bryant are two great athletes, today I bet on 6 [LeBron] but 24 [Kobe] is always tough,’ said Mayweather.

Miami Heat would win the tie 96-80 with LeBron James notching a game-leading 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Living up to his moniker ‘Money’, Mayweather posted his betting slip on the micro-blogging site showing how his right prediction had bagged him winnings of $36,363.65 (around £24k) on top of his $40,000 (£26k) stake.
