NFL Players Weigh In on the NFL MVP

Tom Brady, Michael Vick or an emerging dark horse as NFL MVP? The race seems to be coming down to the first two choices, with Vick leading Philadelphia to the NFC East title and Brady playing nearly flawless football to help New England lock up home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Check who NFL player picked after the jump…

Here’s a look at what Brady and Vick have done this year:

Brady’s 2010 stats: 15 games started, 66.0 completion percentage, 34 touchdowns and 3,701 yards passing, 4 interceptions, 25 sacks, 1 lost fumble, 109.8 quarterback rating, 30 yards and 1 touchdown rushing, 13-2 record as starter.

Vick’s 2010 stats (Philadelphia plays Tuesday vs. Minnesota) : 10 games started, 63.2 completion percentage, 20 touchdowns and 2,755 yards passing, 5 interceptions, 28 sacks, 1 lost fumble, 103.6 quarterback rating, 613 yards and 8 touchdowns rushing, 8-2 record as starter.

To try and settle the debate, FanHouse NFL writers Andy Kent, David Elfin, Dennis Georgatos and John Oehser traveled to a few team facilities to ask who some NFL players who they’d choose as 2010′s MVP.

Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder: “Everybody knows it should be Michael Vick, but they’re going to let Brady win it because it’s Tom Brady. You’ve got to go with Vick. Vick’s my dude.”

Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney, who once sacked Vick 4 1/2 times in one college game between Virginia Tech and Syracuse, but saw Vick’s Eagles beat Indianapolis on Nov. 7: “(Vick’s) the closest thing to a one-man weapon. With Tom Brady, when every receiver is covered, what happens? He has to throw the ball away or here comes the next down. Now, with Michael, he is now throwing the ball very efficiently, but now he can run for 10 yards for a first down instead of throwing the ball away. That’s why he’s so dangerous. He’s having a great year.”

Redskins linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, whose team allowed Vick a record-setting first half in a 59-28 loss to theEagles on Nov. 15: “Vick. He brings the most to the game. He does so much for his team. When he’s not in there, (the Eagles are) a lot easier to prepare for. You put him in the mix and you might have their guys covered and he takes off on a 40-yard run. He’s throwing the ball real well so if you try to spy on him, he’s gonna throw it in a rope to someone.”

Broncos safety Renaldo Hill: “(Vick’s) really taken control of that team, and got those guys going. He’s doing a good job of taking them to the next level.”

Redskins linebacker London Fletcher: “It’s between Brady and Vick. I’m gonna go with Vick because of what he’s been able to do. He gives them another dimension that no other team has at the quarterback position. He’s throwing the football great with 20 touchdowns and minimal (five) interceptions. He throws a great deep ball, and then when plays break down, he can just kill you running the football. ”

Redskins center
Casey Rabach: “Tom Brady. He’s pretty damn good and he doesn’t have the talent around him that he used to.”

Dolphins outside linebacker Cameron Wake: “It’s got to be somebody on defense. You know what? Put my name on the ballot. No, I’m just kidding because I can’t name myself, so whoever’s leading in interceptions (Philadelphia’s Asante Samuel with seven). Defense wins championships so it has to be a defensive player.”

Dolphins cornerback Benny Sapp: “Either Asante Samuel or Cameron Wake, because of their impact on their team and on their defense. Like we say, defense wins championships, offense wins games. A quarterback can go out there and end up with 300 yards and everybody looks at it as good, but at the end of the day, defense wins championships.”

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall: “I say you split it between Mike (Vick) and Tom (Brady). If I had to pick one, I’d probably pick Tom because he’s been out there every week. Mike was hurt for a couple of week. The MVP has to be out there all the time.”

The Eagles just lost to the Minnesota Vikings with Michael Vick at the helm. I don’t think there’s any question as to who the MVP is anymore. Tom Brady, all day.

Even if Vick played well last night – what is that 10 games for him??? Played great but not enough games and even so Brady is playing lights out & hasn’t even thrown pick since like week 2!? and is making so-so talent around him look good
