Cops grill Nascars’ Tony Stewart about alleged fight

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart was questioned by police in the Australian city of Sydney Saturday over an alleged physical altercation with the co-owner of a racetrack, racing website SpeedCafe reported.

Stewart, in Australia to race for a team owned by speedway legend Garry Rush, reportedly raised issues about the track condition at Sydney Speedway with Brett Morris, co-owner of the track and also a former driver.

The confrontation in the suburb of Parramatta reportedly turned physical, with a helmet and punches being thrown.

Parramatta police confirmed that Stewart, 39, was held for questioning but would not comment on the incident or whether Stewart or Morris would be charged.

Stewart was scheduled to leave Saturday, although he could be required to stay if authorities determine that he needs to answer more questions about the incident.

Tony has been known to have a little temper! Actually he has mellowed quite a bit over the last several years, particularly since he became a car owner/driver. Obviously more conscious of corporate $$$$ and the consequences! Can we say being more responsible! Obviously non-NASCAR sanctioned events are anutha story!
