Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has been released from a California jail where he’s been held since his arrest for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Griffen was arrested Monday in Los Angeles for allegedly assaulting an officer after a traffic stop. Police say officers used a stun gun to subdue Griffen during a struggle after he tried to flee.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s jail website indicates Griffen was released early Tuesday on $50,000 bail. He is due in court Feb. 25.

Vikings spokesman Jeff Anderson said Tuesday that the organization is looking into the matter.

Griffen played for USC and was a fourth-round draft pick by the Vikings last year. He saw more playing time toward the end of his rookie season and finished with 11 tackles.
