NHL: Act of Kindness; Hockey player Mike Rupp pays for spilling fan’s beer

One Pittsburgh Penguins fan has learned there really is no need to cry over spilled beer.

Mike Rupp, a forward for the Penguins, hit the rink’s boards during warmups at a recent game, accidentally knocking over a fan’s beer on the other side. But rather than ignoring the trouble he caused, the NHL player apologized to the fan with a puck and some cash.

“Mike felt terrible about it, so he asked the trainer to grab $10 out of Rupp’s wallet,” Rupp’s agent Allan Walsh told the Toronto Sun.

“He then wrote an apology on a puck, signed it and taped the $10 bill around it. He went over to the glass, got the guy’s attention and tossed the puck over to him.”

The Toronto Sun reported that the fan smiled and gave Rupp a thumbs up after reading the puck’s note.
