(KTSM)–According to the United Nations agency, rising incomes have triggered more drinking in heavily populated countries in Africa and Asia, such as India and South Africa.

The WHO’s “Global Status Report on Alcohol and Health” states that approximately 2.5 million people die each year from alcohol-related causes.

According to the UN agency, binge drinking is now prevalent in Brazil, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Ukraine, and is rising elsewhere.
