The woman involved has defended herself saying she was not on Facebook, but had been temporarily blinded by the sun at the time of the accident. Her mother came to her defense as well, stating the Facebook status had been updated earlier when her daughter was waiting in the car, two miles away from the crash, but The lawsuit, filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court by Veloz’s daughter, contended that Beas’ Facebook update was posted at 7:54 a.m., the same time that Veloz’s cell phone records showed a call being made to 911
