Disney has aquired the rights to “Togetherville,” an online social hub that is set to be “Facebook” for kids 10 and under. In Togetherville, kids will be able to interact with each other, exchange gifts, play games, watch videos, create art, and update their statuses, all under the supervision of parents, who will be able to monitor their childrens’ activity on the site. I think this is pretty cool!! @TatWza I know you have a little one….would you let him rock with this??? Read more info after the jump!
According to Togetherville’s website, “Today’s kids are growing up in a world that requires a whole new set of skills to become responsible digital citizens. In Togetherville, your kids learn much more than computer skills: they explore how to be creative, express themselves and learn in a fun, interactive and ad-free way. We help them use technology to connect with the important people in their lives – safely and responsibly.â€
What do you guys think? I’m nervous some creepsters could still find their way in but Disney probably has a way to control that. I hope!
Shopping is more popular in recent year especially for women. Women want to do more and more shopping and look different to others. Today, online shopping is also so popular and most of the people like it.
Only If I was always around, but My little one IS smarter then Most!!!!
Yes, we’ve been following Togetherville for quite a while.
It great to see the industry starting to respond to the needs of children in social media. A recent NYTimes article talks about kids clambering to be on Facebook and the parents are sort of turning a blind eye to it or they just go along with it. Children wanting to participate on Facebook and other social media site is completely understandable.
When Larry Magid (co-director of ConnectSafely) says “Facebook has no resources to help the younger kids, and that’s not good,†he is exactly right. As social media gets more popular, and it’s going to get more popular, expect more site like Everloop to crop up in an effort to lend a hand to parents who are understandably overwhelmed by all this new technology.
You don’t have to spend a lot of time reading the news before you come across some tragic story involving children and the internet. It’s important for parents to be as proactive as possible in teaching their children safe internet habits, and it’s almost never too early to start. ~ MVPStarz dot com
