In light of recent events with Libyan dictator Gaddafi, performers that had been hired in and paid large sums of money but him and his family in the past were being urged to donate the money to charity. Nelly Furtado was the first to step forward, announcing earlier this week she’d be donating the $1 million she’d received to a charity. Mariah Carey, Usher and Beyonce were being asked to follow suit, but apparently Bey had already done so.

“All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, over a year ago,” said a rep for Bey in a statement to CNN. “Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause.”
