It has been noted time and again that Lakers coach Phil Jackson plans to retire from his post as Los Angeles’ coach at the end of the season.

The lead candidate to replace the man that brought five championships to Los Angeles is Brian Shaw, a current Lakers assistant and longtime player.

 

He has been hoisted as the obvious choice on many occasions, but he now also has the support of star guard Kobe Bryant, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports.

“I feel all of the players believe in coach B-Shaw,” Bryant said during a Friday morning shootaround. “We have such a rapport with him. He’s been with us for such a long time. We all have a bit of a bias towards him.
