Royce Da 5’9″, one fourth of the Shady Records rap group, released some details about the album. Royce opens up about the title, how many songs they have done, and when the him and his group mates Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I will be in Detroit to finish the rest of the album. Though Royce Da 5’9″ is busy putting the finishing touches on his Bad Meets Evil EP with Eminem, the Detroit MC says that his upcoming group album with Slaughterhouse is still a priority.
“It’s just something to set up Slaughterhouse anyway,” Royce told MTV News about the Bad Meets Evil project. “That’s our main focus right now, is Slaughterhouse and then we got Yelawolf. We’re just trying to start a movement.”
The group, which consists of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and, of course, Royce, first formed in 2008 after appearing on a Budden track together. In 2009, the rap quartet dropped their self-titled debut album independently on E1 (formerly Koch) then signed to Eminem’s Shady Records in December 2010. Since the high-profile signing, fans of the group have been awaiting their second LP, Monster. Royce assures that Slaughterhouse is hard at work, although news broke this week that he and Eminem will be dropping a joint EP in June.
“Yeah, we’re working on it slowly but surely, slowly and surely,” he said of the Slaughterhouse. “They’re coming here [to Detroit] for seven days starting on the 12th of May. We did the last album in six days, so sky’s the limit on how much we gonna get recorded while they’re here.”
Royce also revealed that he and the crew already have a number of tracks recorded. “We’re about seven or eight songs in. Just cutting randoms, just to see where we are at.”
As of now, no release date has been set for Slaughterhouse’s Monster.
