A Wayne County woman who received a love letter from basketball legend Michael Jordan was demanding answers. She wanted to know how someone got their hands on the high school love note and made thousands of dollars.
You can see the actual letter here. Â Rest of story after the jump…
It was a letter her high school sweetheart, Michael Jordan, wrote to her nearly 30 years ago, Laquetta Robinson said. She thought she had it in her possession,
“That was between him and me, not anyone else,” Robinson said. “It wasn’t for anyone else to have knowledge of it. That’s something he wrote to me, at that time, out of his heart.”
But on Friday, Robinson saw the two-page document on T.V. She could see her name on the top line of the letter, Robinson said. Her romance with a teen-aged Jordan was out in the open, for everyone to read.
Robinson vowed to take legal action against the person who stole the letter. But first, she wanted to set the record straight with Jordan.
“More than anything, I wouldn’t want Michael to think that I did it, cause I wouldn’t want him to think that I would betray him in this way,” Robinson said.
According to a sports auction house, the love note and a picture of Robinson and Jordan dressed up for prom got in the hands of someone who paid thousands of dollars for the items in 2004.
