The Giants want to see where Burress is mentally before they decide to make any moves.  Plaxico was released from prison in June after serving nearly two years for weapons charges.  Plaxico also had a turbulent relationships with Giants coach Tom Coughlin and he was seen as a rebel.  In discussing his relationship with Coughlin, Burress said “”Some things that I didn’t agree with, with the way he went about things. And the only way to show my way was to just rebel. Is that who I am? No.”

Coughlin has however agreed to meet and sit down with Burress.  Plaxico was selected eighth overall in the 2000 draft, he has 505 receptions for 7,845 yards and 55 touchdowns in nine seasons.  Burress also caught the winning touchdown in the 2008 Super Bowl as the Giants stunned the Patriots, dealing New England its only loss that season. Burress was no doubt important to the Giants and may improve their season if he is readded to the roster.
