An abandoned newborn girl was found in a shoebox in Queens Friday morning.

The baby was found on the stoop of 21-62 28th Street in upper Astoria around 7:05 a.m. Residents called 911 after seeing the baby.

The baby, described as white or Hispanic, still had the umbilical cord attached.

EMS treated the girl at the scene and then took her to Elmhurst General Hospital. The baby was said to be in stable condition.

Police are trying to locate the parents. They say a hospital canvass was initiated and the investigation is ongoing.
