Charles Barkley doesn’t feel sorry for his buddy Michael Jordan, who recently was fined $100,000 for talking about the NBA lockout, but Barkley doesn’t like the league’s gag order.

“Well, it’s a drop in the bucket for sure,” Barkley said Thursday on “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000. “But I don’t like all those rules about not talking about the lockout.”

The NBA had issued a memo before the lockout began on July 1, warning that any team owner or employee who discussed the lockout or any player during the work stoppage could be fined up to $1 million.

Jordan talked about the need for revenue sharing and mentioned Australian-born Andrew Bogut, of the Milwaukee Bucks, during a lengthy interview with the Australian paper, The Herald Sun.

NBA spokesman Tim Frank confirmed that Jordan, who is an owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, had been fined, but he wouldn’t comment on the total. ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard reported the amount was $100,000.

“I mean what else are you going to (be) talking about? There is nothing else happening,” said Barkley, an NBA analyst for TNT. “There is no summer league and training camp starts in less than three weeks.

“The notion that nobody is going to ask you or talk about the lockout is silly. I think everybody should be talking about it, so we can get this thing done.”

Barkley is on record predicting the entire 2011-12 NBA season will be lost.

“Last year was a great year for the NBA, and a great year for Chicago,” he said. “Derrick Rose proved he was one of the best players in the world, and my boy (Joakim) Noah played fantastic, and (Tom Thibodeau) did a great job coaching.

“They’re going to have to make a decision by next week on whether training camp is going to be canceled. It wouldn’t surprise me if they announce by the end of this week that training camp will be canceled.”
