Katherine Jackson had asked Chris Brown earlier this summer to be a part of the major Michael Jackson tribute concert that went down over the weekend in the UK. While it was known he was asked to perform, his actual response was never released, so it was simply assumed that he would be in attendance. When he didn’t end up on stage, rumors spread that it was because he had been denied a visa into the UK for his past criminal record (aka Rihanna-gate). Word got back to Breezy that that’s what the streets were saying, so he made sure to clear it up asap. Find out why he really wasn’t there below.

Chris Brown says his criminal record played NO ROLE in why he couldn’t perform at the massive Michael Jackson tribute in Wales this weekend — claiming widespread reports that he was “banned” are simply false.

TMZ spoke with Brown’s rep, who tells us Chris WAS invited to perform in the show, “however, his previously booked domestic F.A.M.E. tour concert dates didn’t allow him to accept the honor and therefore he never planned to go to the UK. He was not banned.”

The rep points out that Brown spent the weekend performing in Tampa, Charlotte and Virginia Beach — dates that had been scheduled BEFORE he was asked to join the MJ show.
