Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Marcus Benard was rushed to a hospital Monday after he crashed his motorcycle into a highway wall.

Team spokesman Neal Gulkis said Benard is being evaluated at MetroHealth Medical Center following the accident, which happened near Interstate 71 shortly after Benard left the team’s training facility. Gulkis said Benard spoke over the phone to team trainer Joe Sheehan.

The team does not know the extent of Benard’s injuries or his condition.

Benard, a reserve defensive end, is in his third season with the Browns after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Jackson State. He led the team in sacks last season with 7.5.
