According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, a school resource officer at Clover Middle School was approached by students between class who said they had just seen a substitute teacher assault a 13-year-old student during class.

The deputy notified school officials about the complaint and spoke to the 13-year-old student who was allegedly assaulted. The student told school officials that he “threw a pen into a trash can [and 49-year-old Elizabeth Robinson] became enraged with anger” and punched him in the face with a closed fist.

The student was checked out by the school’s nurse who noted minor swelling on his face, the report states.

According to deputies, Robinson was escorted from the classroom by the school’s resource officer and school officials.

When questioned by the alleged assault, Robinson admitted to “becoming angry after [the student] misbehaved […] and slapping him with an open hand,” the report states. Robinson denied punching the student with a closed fist.

School officials say she was disciplined according to district policy. School district officials told WBTV news partner CN2 that Robinson would not be working in the Clover School District ever again.
