Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal will reportedly run for “undersheriff of Lake County, Fla.,” he revealed in an interview with Off the Dribble, the New York Times NBA Blog.

When asked how his law enforcement career was going, Shaq responded by announcing his intention to run for undersheriff in Lake County, Fla. Shaq had previously hinted to his interest in becoming a part of the law enforcement field.

Despite Shaq’s reputation as being a jokester, this recent declaration has some weight. The 7’1 former NBA center has experience helping law enforcement in Florida.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, in 2007 Shaq helped police chase down a teen who veered into O’Neal’s parked Escalade. He was able to chase down the teen and O’Neal “flagged down a police officer” who was then able to arrest the boy.
