While many eyes will be on Tim Tebow’s efforts against the New England Patriots Sunday, it seems backing for the Denver Broncos quarterback stops at bettors’ wallets.

Tebow’s late-game heroics have made him a rising star among many football fans, but when it comes to real money, gamblers are finding it hard to back him against Patriots signal-caller and serial winner Tom Brady.

As of Friday afternoon, Brady’s team were 7.5-point favorites.

“Denver’s way to win has been to keep it close into the fourth quarter, but there might not be enough time left on the clock if the Patriots are up 20 points,” said Jay Rood, vice president of the Race & Sports Book for MGM Resorts International.

Tebow’s completion percentage this season is 48.5 percent, but he’s led his team to three overtime victories and seven wins in eight games as a starter. During fourth quarters, his completion percentage in 61.3 percent and his quarterback rating is 110. But despite his efforts, Denver’s offense ranks 23rd in the NFL in yards per game, and 21st in points per game.

The Patriots, on the other hand, have the third-highest scoring offense in the league and gain the second-most yards per game. Brady’s 66.1 percent completion percentage is third among quarterbacks and he’s thrown for 4,273 yards and 33 touchdowns this year, both placing him second in the NFL.

“The Broncos are going to need ‘Tebow time’ from kickoff if they want to hang with the New England offense,” added Rood.
