After hanging out on the streets of Twitter and seeing everyone up in arms over HBO cancelling “How To Make It In America,” I had to look into the issue since I figured this would be of interest to our IFWT readers as well! Apparently, HBO is cleaning house to make way for new series set to debut in 2012. SO not one but three shows got the axe. Get some more details below.
While Enlightened actually had the smallest audience of the four shows, it was a darling among critics. And last week, it was nominated for two Golden Globes: Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
Hung, starring Thomas Jane working a second job as a male prostitute, averaged 3.9 million viewers, the largest audience of the four shows. However, that’s a 44 percent drop from Hung’s second year.
Bored to Death, starring Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis, and America, executive produced by Mark Wahlberg, both averaged 2.3 million viewers, down 25 percent from their previous seasons.
That sucks… HBO is killing there dedicated watchers & monthly payers. Some of us who stayed after wanting to cancel after THE WIRE & THE SOPRANO’S finale’s sucked. We hope for something as interesting to come about. A reason to pay $150 a month to only watch 4 hrs of HBO demand a week. They cancel good shows. I’ve “PAID” for about 7 yrs straight to watch only the few good shows they show on HBO b/c reality shows are for the illegal users & women. If I wanted to watch that I’d pay $50 and have one of your workers hook it up for the year. I wouldn’t pay $1600 a year for it. I think I may have to re-evaluate my HBO commitment.
