The 7 foot tall number “2” that will replace the last year’s “1” in last year’s “2011” has arrived in New York City. The “2” will be displayed to the public until December 27th when it will make it’s way to the top of 1 Times Square in preparation for New Year’s Eve. Read more after the jump.

The 7 ft second “2” in “2012” that will replace the second “1” in “2011” atop the Crossroads of the World, is on display at ground level at the Times Square Alliance Visitors Center in New York City.
The giant numeral, with 145 LED light bulbs, will be moved next week to the top of 1 Times Square in preparation for the world’s most famous New Years Eve celebration.
Together, the four numerals in “2012” have 526 LED bulbs, which along with the ball, remain lit year-round. It is considered one of the most watched signs in the planet.
“2” will be on display in Times Square until December 27, giving locals and visitors a chance to see it in close proximity.

Also on display at the center is the ball dropped at the Millenium celebration.
