While the fans seem to enjoy people like Alicia Keys (aka DJ AK-47), Kanye West (aka DJ Yeezy World Peace) and Lil Wayne hitting the turntables, others don’t find it as amusing. Longtime DJ Spinderella took to her Twitter account to vent her frustrations about these artists turned DJ’s. “First, Dj AK-47 (Alicia Keys) and now Dj wih wih wiggety Wayne? WTH who’s next??” she started off asking. “record sales down .. become a Dj ? FOH” See the rest of her rant below.
She’s right. I agree with her. People should stay in their lanes. Celebrity gets to these mofos head and they THINK they can do eeevvvvrythingg… Hiphop is wack now and will remain that way until they are willing to let lyricists back in the game.. SMH!! Where are Jay and Ye (Ye the artist/producer NOT the DJ) They are the only ones with real subject matter and ability to pull off hit records that say something and are not playing to the ignorant..
I agree but to an extent because you can’t knock someone for trying to learn new things…okay sure, maybe she doesn’t want an artist making money from rapping/singing and DJ’ing because it may takeaway from everyone else but I don’t think it’s right to say “Hey [Insert Name Here] drop the turntables/controller.”
Then, she states that today’s DJ shouldn’t rely on technology such as Serato because it made DJ’ing easier…I’m sorry but isn’t technology suppose to make things Easier. Now don’t get me wrong turntables and vinyls are still widely used but just in a different manner because lets admit it who would want to carry around crates of vinyls or cds? Now think about the fact that no one does so because a majority of people buy singles instead of cds and can carry them on an external hard drive…that’s like saying “Oh I Don’t want a cell phone so I can talk to people anywhere. I’ll just stick with a land line and only receive calls when I’m home.” Like I said, I do agree with her but to an extent.
