Suffolk County Police arrested a man on drunk driving charges after he was seen driving his Hyundai at speeds topping 120 miles per hour. Something is not right because 120 mph and Hyundai should not be used in the same sentence. It happened early Thursday morning in Centereach.
An officer saw the car traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on County Road 97, just north of Stony Brook University Medical Center.
The officer followed the car. The driver headed westbound on Route 347, made a u-turn, and then made a right turn onto southbound County Road 97.
When the Hyundai stopped for a red light at the intersection with Pond Path, the officer was able to catch up to the car and turned on his lights to pull over the vehicle.
Joseph Perez, 26, of South Setauket, was charged with DWI with a previous conviction. He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon.
