Any man who reveres David Lynch, John Coltrane, Richie Havens, The Dalai Lama, Public Enemy and Lee “Scratch” Perry and has done books on PUNK, HIP HOP and COLLAGE, is a member of The Universal Zulu Nation and a honorary member of The Black Panther Party should be considered a free thinker if not a rebel of sorts.

Part of this against-the-grain nature is showing up in this interview in which “Brother Ernie” Paniccioli champions the “Occupy Hip Hop” movement which is gaining adherents and momentum – as evidenced by the heated activity at his facebook site “Occupy Hip Hop Ernie Paniccioli.” “We have a very specific goal, and that is to liberate the hearts and minds of our children from the garbage being broadcast today. It was first necessary to identify and target that which is wrong in commercialized Rap and Hip Hop and how it is hurting us,” Ernie says.

“If you trace all of these things, it all goes down to a certain small clique of criminal-minded people. It is organized, and it is criminal – it is organized crime. And, we in the community are seriously considering a RICO action against this out-of-balance and out-of-control media.”

He adds, “Poisonous foods – poisonous media, there is no difference.”
