Amar’e Stoudemire will miss the Knicks’ next three games as he mourns the death of his brother, Hazell Stoudemire, the New York Post’s Marc Berman reports via Twitter.

Hazell, 35, died in a car accident in Florida early Monday morning.

The Knicks play in Washington Wednesday night, host the Lakers Friday night and visit Minnesota on Saturday. Stoudemire is expected to be back with the Knicks on Monday and should be ready to play the Raptors on Tuesday, according to Berman.

The Knicks will also be without Carmelo Anthony for the next week or two. Anthony strained his groin Monday night against the Jazz.

In a statement released by the Knicks, Stoudemire said, “I am humbled by all of the thoughts and prayers I have received. Thank you for all of the support. I am going to take a few days to be with my family and grieve the loss of my big brother, Hazell Stoudemire. Although it is not clear to me now, I hope to make some good come from our tragedy.”
