65 years ago, James and Marjorie Landis vowed to spend the rest of their lives together and this week they fulfilled their promise by dying just 88 minutes apart.

The couple from Westmont, Pennsylvania met at a local dance when the Air Force pilot swept his future bride off her feet, even though they were both on dates with other people!

They were married in 1946 and last September, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
A lifetime of happiness and joyful memories together came to a fitting end on Monday when Marjorie died at Laurelwood Care Center following a long illness. Just 88 minutes later, James, 89, suffered a heart attack and followed his wife in death, reported the Tribune Democrat.

Inseparable throughout their marriage, the loving husband had been by her side when she died, and returned to her side soon after.

“The last thing he said to her was, ‘It’s OK. I love you. We had many good years together. I will see you real soon,’” granddaughter Erin Miller told the Tribune Democrat.

“I just think he died of a broken heart. I don’t think they could have lived apart from each other.”

Along with raising their two children, Gary and Gail, Marjorie and James shared many passions including bird watching, taking cruises, playing board games, bridge and baking Christmas cookies for their family and friends.

“They had so much fun together,” Miller explained. “Everybody always commented, ‘I wish I could be like your grandparents.’ ”
