*Updated* It’s official – he’s got the verified check! Brett Favre has joined twitter and his twitter handle is @BrettFavre4.

With the rumors of Brett Favre considering a return to the NFL past its expiration date, the Mississippi gunslinger is looking to rent real estate in everyone’s heads by entering the world of social media. “Hello friends, family, and fans. This is my official account I finally found the time to join twitter,” Favre tweeted from the @BrettFavre4 account.

(Some were reporting that Brett’s twitter handle was @Favre4Official , but now that @BrettFavre4 is verified we know what it is)

Rumors had been percolating in the social networks in late February that Favre would be joining the social media website, Twitter, but it wasn’t until Friday that Favre made the leap.

Since joining, Favre has followed fellow Twitter-newcomer, former teammate and upcoming ‘Dancing With The Stars’ contestant,Donald Driver, along with the official @ESPN and @NFL accounts. The title of his avatar picture was entitled ‘brett-favre_Smile_2′.  Twitter welcomed the quarterback with advice about tweeting pics, pointing him in the direction of @jennsterger and recycling old Brett Favre jokes.
