The Denver Broncos will contact the agent for Peyton Manning to gauge his interest in possibly playing in Denver, 7Sports Director Lionel Bienvenu has confirmed. NFL sources say the Broncos are one of many teams that have already expressed interest in Manning. Manning was officially released by the Indianapolis Colts Wednesday. The sources tell 7Sports the Broncos will become a serious player in the chase for Peyton only if he expresses an interest in coming to Denver.

Bienvenu said “Of course the Broncos will put in a call and make a bid for Peyton Manning. They have to find out if he has any desire to play in Denver. If he does, then John Elway and John Fox must pursue one of the greatest QB’s of all time. If Peyton is healthy, he may have three or four more good years left. You have to make that call.”

Most national NFL experts believe Manning would not choose Denver as his next destination. Miami, Arizona, Washington, and the NY Jets are believed to be among the top teams. Manning said he has not even thought about where he would like to play in the future. After the press conference in Indianapolis, he flew by private jet to Miami, where he owns a home. Speculation is the Dolphins are number one in the Manning sweepstakes. Reports out of Miami say the Dolphins will go full bore after Manning. Free agent receiver Reggie Wayne, Peyton’s former teammate in Indy and a Miami resident, said yesterday he would love to be part of a package deal with Manning and sign with the Dolphins.

If the Broncos were to sign Manning, where would that leave Tim Tebow? Bienvenu said, “Best case scenario is Manning starts. Tebow listens and learns, improves his passing, maybe plays in a “Tebow package”, then takes over when Manning is done. But after going 8-5 with that playoff victory over the Steelers last season, I can’t see Tebow being happy going back to the bench as a back-up. I don’t know if there’s room for Manning and Tebow on the same team.”
