The Jets plan a noon ET press conference to announce the acquisition of Tim Tebow on Monday, which doesn’t sit well with some of his new teammates.

The New York Post reports that “several current Jets,” who asked not to be identified or quoted, “expressed disbelief at the team bringing in Tebow” and had trouble understanding why a backup QB would have a press conference.

The team is moving the press conference from the room it normally holds them to the indoor practice field, which is also located at its Florham Park, N.J., headquarters, to accommodate all media requests.

Former Jets lineman Damien Woody says the team contradicts itself in labeling Tebow a backup yet playing up his acquisition.

“How many times has a backup quarterback had a press conference?” Woody said. “How many times have there been helicopters to meet a backup quarterback at the airport? The organization is saying he’s the backup quarterback. Well, then why do you feel like you have to have a press conference? Why not just do a conference call and call it a day?

“It’s a marketing ploy.”

No strangers to anonymous gripes, several Jets were also reported to be fed up with a “lazy” Mark Sanchez and hoping the team would sign Peyton Manning back in January.
