The fates of Magic coach Stan Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith won’t be clarified until after Orlando does what it does in the playoffs.  If Van Gundy should meet his demise, it’s rumored that’ll he’ll be replaced by former coach of the Portland Trailblazers, Nate McMillan.  Read more after the jump.

The whispers, though, have already begun to spread on the coaching grapevine that Nate McMillan will emerge as a prime candidate to replace Van Gundy if this is it for SVG in Central Florida. McMillan has been mentioned for years as the future coach of the Bobcats, given his strong ties to Charlotte, but skepticism persists about Michael Jordan’s willingness to pay the sort of coaching dollars McMillan is sure to command.

McMillan has compiled a record of 478-452 in his coaching career during the regular season and is 14-20 in the playoffs. He’s advanced out of the first round just once, in 2005 with the Supersonics.
