Former boxing champ Hector “Macho” Camacho has been arrested for child abuse … after allegedly slamming his son to the ground and stomping on him last year. 

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the 49-year-old boxer turned himself into authorities yesterday … over the incident that allegedly went down at his ex-wife’s home on March 22, 2011.

Macho’s kid reportedly told authorities he believed the boxer was “high on drugs” during the incident.

We reached out to Macho’s rep for comment — so far, no response.

UPDATE

11:40 AM PDT — Macho’s rep tells TMZ … the boxer is adamant he is not a drug user … and says, “Everything has been resolved between him and his family.”

The rep says the dispute began when he got into an argument with his 2 teenage sons about money that was missing from his wallet.. Macho says he did get angry … but called the police himself before anything happened.
