Former NBA star Dennis Rodman arrived in Bulgaria this week ahead of his appearance at the country’s All-Star game on Saturday, the Sofia News Agency reported.

His arrival in the capital Sofia came just days after a Los Angeles court heard the 50-year-old was unable to make his required spousal and child support payments because he was “extremely sick” and “broke.”

The former NBA badboy owes $808,935 in back child support for the two children, ages 9 and 10, he had with his third wife, Michelle Rodman. He reportedly owes an additional $51,441 in spousal support.

On arrival in Sofia on Wednesday night, Rodman told reporters he had done some research on Bulgaria and was impressed by the country’s women.

“I learned a bit about your country on the internet. Your women are very beautiful,” Rodman said.

He also indicated he may appear in Saturday’s All-Star game, after being asked whether he felt ready to play.

“Not right now. I am tired. The flight from Miami was long. The weather is warm there and I boarded it straight from the beach,” he said.

Rodman’s attorney Linnea Willis, in court documents, wrote that her client was “extremely sick” and that his marketability was diminishing with age and illness, making it impossible for the five-time NBA champion to pay the $5,000 he owes monthly for one child from another relationship, in addition to the $4,500 he owes Michelle Rodman every month.

The unheralded second round draft pick out of Southeastern Oklahoma State helped the Pistons to two NBA titles in 1989 and 1990 and took home three more rings with the Chicago Bulls from 1996 to 1998.

He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in August.
