Game Application Software Developer (CONTRACT) – Sony DADC

The Application Software Developer (CONTRACT) position provides technical and analytical support for the Applications Development function supporting Sony DADC, including both the U.S. and global entities. The position is located in Culver City, CA.

The Application Software Developer (CONTRACT) will successfully plan, create, develop, and maintain complex game applications across multiple platforms, using both proven and new technologies. Applicants should be able to lead in best practices, using proven development methodologies, in an energized and entrepreneurial, team-driven studio environment.

Responsibilities

* Provide time estimates and development plans for feature development.
* Accurately schedule and complete tasks on time.
* Implement, test, debug, and maintain multiple code bases for various ongoing projects.
* Develop thorough test plans for Departmental use, as well as inter-Departmental use.
* Ability to test/prototype new ideas quickly in a rapid-fire, experimental environment keeping in mind future production requirements.
* Help develop new frameworks and template systems for expanding product lines.
* Analyze feasibility of advanced technical features and report functionality that seems difficult / impossible.
* Participate and be able to propose out-of-box workarounds for difficult / impossible features.

Requirements

* BS or higher in Computer Science or similar discipline.
* Expert programming experience as game scripter/programmer.
* Extensive experience with JavaScript as a web-based scripting language, and as a complex GUI & backend development language.
* Extensive experience with DHTML, CSS,XML and working with the HTML DOM.
* Experience with JavaScript debugging.
* Experience working on dynamic end user GUIs.
* Experience writing shaders and engine game tools a plus.
* Exposure to JAVA is a big plus.
* Exposure to back-end server-side technologies and relational databases a plus .
* Exposure to version control systems a plus (SVN, etc.)
* Passionate, task driven, self-motivated, proactive & a team player.
* Must be able to communicate effectively with team members.
* Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other teams.
