Now the FBI is investigating Brimager in connection with her disappearance, a Panamanian official told CBS News.

Baldelli moved to Panama in search of a new beginning after reportedly getting divorced and laid off from her job at Procter & Gamble.

At first, she kept in close contact with her family, telling them how wonderful everything was in Panama, the Miami Herald reported. But when she stopped calling two months later, they became suspicious. In January, after Baldelli failed to respond to an invitation to a family reunion, relatives flew down to Panama to look for her.

“What we want is to bring Yvonne home and show that she’s loved and cared about,” Baldelli’s father, James Faust, told CBS News.

In December, Brimager, a former Marine, told acquantinces Baldelli had left him and he was returning to California, the Herald reported.

He claimed Baldelli went to Costa Rica with another man — but her passport shows she never left Panama, CBS News reported.

Brimager, meanwhile, has since returned to the United States, and married another woman.

He has not been charged in Baldelli’s disappearance.

On Tuesday, officials announced a $3,000 award for any information that could help bring Baldelli home.
