Five people were arrested after authorities in Parker County found 58 dogs and an 18-month old in a crib surrounded by human waste late last week. The dogs, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s office, were living in abysmal conditions.

“The conditions were so poor that it created a serious health hazard for the occupants as well,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “There was an overwhelming foul odor of dog feces which was detectable from outside the residence. It was extremely unhealthy for both humans and animals.”
Authorities were tipped off by a neighbor, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
Outside the house, more than a dozen puppies were found in similar conditions.
They were taken to a local animal shelter where some were euthanized. Others died over the weekend due to the conditions.
The Weldons, according to the sheriff, were allowed to adopt animals from a shelter without a background check.
