Today the first annular solar eclipse in the United States since 1994 will take place. To help celebrate the momentous occasion, Southern Stars has released a major update to its SkySafari apps for iOS, Mac OS X, and Android for all to view the solar Eclipse.
According to Southern Stars it’s SkySafari  3.5  app is the only iOS astronomy app that correctly displays both solar and lunar eclipses from any place on Earth.  And with the updated version of the app “You can now leave the surface of planet Earth to view solar eclipses – and other celestial events – from any place in the solar system.”
With this option it can give viewers of the solar system a new perpective of solar eclipse moments.  The eclipse will be shown from 2 locations Reno, Nevada, USA where the moon shadow casts and from the moon where it will be looking back at earth.
WARNING: Do not stare at the Sun without proper eye protection. Never observe the Sun through binoculars or a telescope without a solar filter. Viewing the Sun without proper equipment during a solar eclipse – or at any other time – may cause serious eye injury or even blindness.
