The Super Bowl champion New York Giants suffered a setback today when wide receiver Hakeem Nicks fractured his foot during OTA’s.

Star-Ledger reporter Mike Garafolo reports that Nicks will have surgery tomorrow to have a screw inserted. He also reports that the injury happened during the team’s second OTA when the star receiver was running a route. He is expected to miss 12 weeks, which will put him out of action until midway through training camp.

Nicks is a key component to the Giants passing attack as he caught 76 passes for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns in 2011. He posted similar numbers the year before with 79 receptions for 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns.
