This time around, errrrrbody’s talking about pics of two military moms breast feeding their kiddies in uniform.
The pics were posted on the interwebs by lactivists Mom2Mom out of Fairchild Air Force Base, who say the photos were meant to promote World Breast-Feeding Week in August.
And while the pictures were done to promote a great cause, they’re certainly causing a HEAVY dose of controversy!!! Crystal Scott who launched the group weighs in:
“People are comparing breastfeeding in uniform to urinating and defecating in uniform. They’re comparing it to the woman who posed in Playboy in uniform [in 2007]We never expected it to be like this.
I’m an X-ray tech and I breastfeed in my uniform all the time. Granted they’re scrubs. But people do it all the time in their uniforms. If you have a hungry baby, why would you take the time to change completely?”
She has a point!!!
Terran Echegoyen-McCabe the mom who was photographed in uniform nursing her twin daughters, says that she’s also shocked the pics were met with such hatred:
“I have breastfed in our lobby, in my car, in the park … and I pump, usually in the locker room. I’m proud to be wearing a uniform while breast-feeding. I’m proud of the photo and I hope it encourages other women to know they can breastfeed whether they’re active duty, guard or civilian.”
The moms are sticking to their pictures, and claim “the military photographs were NEVER meant to exploit… [and just wanted] to help raise awareness, educate and support breast-feeding mothers.”
