A woman was scratched by another rider this morning — a rat on board a downtown A train, officials said.

The woman was attacked by the rodent at the Columbus Circle station shortly after getting on a train about 7:50 a.m., an MTA spokesman said.

She jumped back to the platform and requested medical assistance, the spokesman said. She was taken to St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center.

It’s unclear where the rat went after the attack. The train continued on its way after the woman exited, the MTA said.

Supervisors are conducting additional inspections and will alert cleaners if needed, an MTA statement said.

“It is important to note that we routinely clean subway cars, station platforms and track areas of debris that may attract rodents,” the statement said. “We use rodent resistant trash receptacles and routinely power wash platforms. Additionally, we use both pest control contractors and in-house exterminating forces to bait track areas and non-public station areas.”

Riders can help by refraining from eating in the subways and throwing trash in garbage cans, the authority said.
