Mark Malkoff Visits Netflix HQ!

Comedian Mark Malkoff’s successful attempt to watch 250 movies using his Netflix subscription recently caught the eye of folks at Netflix, and they invited him to their headquarters in Los Gatos, Calif., this month.

During his visit, Malkoff met CEO Reed Hastings and sat in auditorium as company employees screened the video for his “Netflix Challenge” project — in which he viewed 404.25 hours of 252 Netflix movies.

Netflix also declared June 11 as “Mark Malkoff Day” (see videos below to see his visit and challenge summary).

“Watching 252 films in a month was like a mini-school,” he tells Mashable. “I enjoyed it, but it was challenging at times — especially watching 29.4 hours of closing credits in a month. … Everybody was really supportive of my Netflix project, except my internet service provider who I’m pretty sure hates me.”

Malkoff says he tapped Facebook and Twitter to ask for movie recommendations and InstantWatcher.com to keep tabs on when movies would expire and when new titles would hit Netflix. He also asked Mashable readers for recommendations in the comments section of one post.

“One other thing I learned from my month is to avoid to any movie starring Vanilla Ice at all costs,” he says.

Based on Malkoff’s $7.99 a month Netflix subscription, each movie he watched cost about 3.2 cents to watch.
