The weather’s crazy today in NYC.. at least the rain’s cooling down the heat. Hit the jump to view a crazy photo of a lightning bolt hitting the Empire State Building.

Lightning does indeed strike twice — atop the Empire State Building.

A jagged bolt from the blue hit the antenna above the 102-story landmark Friday as thunderstorms blew into the sweat-soaked city with the promise of sweet relief from the heat.

The scene was reminiscent of a famous May 2007 Daily News picture capturing another lightning strike at the iconic skyscraper on a hazy afternoon. (Lightning actually strikes the tower multiple times a year.)

Temperatures were expected to drop into the 80s Saturday for the first time since a three-day mini-heat wave arrived Wednesday, bumping temperatures into the 90s.

About 1,700 Con Ed customers across Brooklyn and Queens lost power Friday morning amid the intense heat and humidity.

Mayor Bloomberg praised Con Ed’s work during his weekly radio address.

“Con Ed is actually doing a pretty good job,” he said. “Once you get three or four days of very hot weather…. then you start to have failures.”

The National Weather Service predicts a break in the blistering weather, with temperatures in the mid-80s on Sunday and barely getting out of the 70s on Monday.
