RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KTLA) — Two gay men say they endured anti-gay slurs and were threatened with physical harm by two employees of a Lowe’s home improvement store.

The two men are seeking restraining orders against the employees, claiming the two threatened to go to the couple’s home and harm them.

Linda Roberts-Ross, the attorney for domestic partners Jeremy L. Smythe, 29, and Daniel Soto, 35, filed the petitions against Andy Olague and Frank Villa in Superior Court in Riverside.

Smythe said the incident started when he and Soto attempted to exchange a leaf blower at the LoweÂ’s at 9851 Magnolia Ave.

Smythe said he told Olague that the battery wasnÂ’t holding a charge, according to the Press-Enterprise.

Smythe said Olague responded: “If you’d learn to read the (expletive) directions, you’d see you have to charge it for 12 hours.

“I said something along the lines of ‘This is enough, get your manager, Smythe said.

Olague allegedly responded: “You watch your (expletive) mouth. I’ll say what the (expletive) I want to say. I’ll beat your (expletive expletive) right here, you little (anti-gay slur).

Smythe spoke to the assistant manager and asked, “What kind of animal do you have working here?

After that comment, Smythe said, Olague charged at him and had to be restrained.

Lowes spokeswoman Karen Cobb told the Press-Enterprise, “We take this matter very seriously. Customer service is one of our top priorities and we are looking into this situation.
