A mother who allegedly tried to sell her four-month-old baby in a classified ad for $4,000 has been taken into custody.
Dallas Police were made aware of the shocking case after a would-be buyer backed out of the deal and alerted authorities.
Megan Heichelbeck, the woman who responded to the newspaper advertisement, said she wanted to adopt the baby but had second thoughts, according to WFAA.
‘She was looking for a better home for him. She wanted someone who could take care of him and do the things that needed to be done,’ she told the channel.
‘She was very honest about all that. I don’t think she had any intention of sending him anywhere.’
The true extent of the baby boy’s suffering came to light after managers of the mother’s apartment in Plano, Dallas, entered her home on Friday to collect rent.
