Although he came through in the end it was evident for much of the playoffs that Dwyane Wade wasn’t himself.  Chronic issues with his knee detracted from his game and may cause him to miss the Olympics.  Read more after the jump.

“I’ve got to make a decision on what my knee needs and what’s best, because my career and finishing my career strong is what’s important to me,” Wade said. “And I know, yeah, the Olympics are coming up. It’s something I really want to do. But at the same time, if I have to make a big decision, if something has to happen surgery-wise, that will have to be a step I have to take. My loyalty and my commitment to Miami Heat basketball is the No. 1 thing.”

I know we would all love to see Wade play in the Olympics in what may be the best team since the 92 Dream Team but he has to get better for next season.  Given the high velocity Wade has played for many years, the wear and tear on his knee isn’t surprising.  It’s certainly enjoyable to watch but it’s only so long you can play that way ala Derrick Rose and keep an eye on  Russell Westbrook.  I hope some well needed rest gives Wade and everybody a chance to return better than ever.
