An MTA cop was rushed into surgery Wednesday after being knifed in the eye by a man outside a Long Island Rail Road station in Queens. Officer John Barnett, an 11-year veteran, then shot and killed the assailant in the 9:30 a.m. holiday confrontation. Click below to read the rest of the story.

Barnett was talking to a taxi dispatcher outside the Sutphin Blvd. station in Jamaica when the suspect, Edgar Owens, made “a bee-line” for him, a source said.
“He had a knife and started slashing away at the officer.”
Cut on the eye, Barnett backed into the street and barked at Owens: “Police! Don’t move!”
