RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Three girls are dead and their father is in jail as police investigate an apparent triple homicide in the western Wisconsin city of River Falls.
A news release says officers were dispatched about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when the girls’ mother Jessica Schaffhausen called police to express concern because of statements made by the father, Aaron Schaffhausen.
Police arrived to find the bodies of Amara, Sophie and Cea Schaffhausen, ages 5 to 11. Police reported the smell of gas in the home, but did not identify the cause of their deaths.
Aaron Schaffhausen later turned himself in to police (above).
Police say wife Jessica is safe and is assisting police.
River Falls Police Chief Roger Leque says there’s no danger to the rest of the community.
