Sylvester Stallone called his son the “center of our universe” in a statement issued Sunday night.
The action movie icon also implored “people to respect my talented son’s memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha,” in the remarks sent to TMZ.
The 66-year-old actor asked that the media stop “the speculation and questionable reporting” that Sage Moonblood Stallone, who was found dead Friday, may have been dead for days and was surrounded in filth.

“When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain… This agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives,” Stallone said, according to TMZ. “Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son’s memory in full left in peace.”
The exact cause of 36-year-old Sage’s death remains unknown. An autopsy and toxicology tests are reportedly being done, but the results may not be released for several days, if not weeks. His death may have resulted, according to reports, from an accidental overdose of prescription medication.
Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said authorities found prescription bottles in the investigation, but did not say what type, how many or whether they played a part in Sage’s death.
No suicide note was reportedly found, and foul play is not suspected.
Sage was apprently planning to marry his longtime girlfriend – who was not identified – according to his lawyer and friend, George Braunstein. They were to marry soon, perhaps this coming weekend.
“The last conversation I had with him he was telling me about how he was getting married, and he was planning on some kind of exciting costume wedding in Las Vegas,” he told E! News. “He was up and positive about everything.”
Braunsteain also criticized claims Sage had been dead for days before his body was discovered. He told People.com over the weekend that photos were posted to Sage’s Facebook account just 17 hours before he was found dead.
“I think it was probably some sort of accident,” he said.
Sage was the first of two sons Stallone had with first wife, Sasha Czack. He made his acting debut in 1990’s “Rocky V” and also appeared with his father in 1996’s “Daylight.”
Sage co-founded Grindhouse Releasing, a company that restores B-movies, and directed the 2006 short “Vic,” which screened at the Palm Springs Film Festival.
