Last Friday’s memorable Opening Ceremony in London came together with the help of director Danny Boyle, a number of notable British actors and musicians, and thousands of local volunteers working out of the kindness of their hearts.
Some of those volunteers, however, decided to put their service to the pursuit of personal profit by selling some of the props they used, wore, or found on the Internet, according to The Telegraph.
Some of the items include various costumes and outfits worn throughout the show such as a Freddie Mercury costume, an outfit worn by one of the members of the band Industrial Revolution, and a flourescent color outfit worn during a tribute to David Bowie.
Other props that went up for auction to the highest bidder included the actual short story book read by author J.K. Rowling during the ceremony, some confetti launched into the stadium and a “best wishes” letter from Boyle.
Some criticized the sales as “crass” and “disrespectful” but one of the volunteers said the ceremony inspired her to sell her costume so she could use the money to start her own business. That really only makes sense if the business she’s starting is some kind of rare collectibles shop that only sells memorabilia from the London Summer Games.

Pretty sure Industrial Revolution refers to the time when manufacturing and mass production were born, not a band. Some would argue that a reporter should at least know WTF the Industrial Revolution is, but I guess you probably know a bit more about Niki Minaj than the average person so you have that going for you.
